2009-2018 Dodge Ram Headlights
Installation Guide
Required Tools:
- 1/4" Ratchet
- 1/4" Extension
- 10mm Socket (common)
- 8mm Socket (common on grille/liners)
- Trim Removal Tool / Panel Popper
- Flat Screwdriver
- Phillips Screwdriver (some clips/liners)
- Gloves & Masking Tape

Step 1 — Remove Upper Cover
Remove plastic push-clips using a panel popper, then lift off the upper cover to access the top grille fasteners.

Step 2 — Remove Top Grille Bolts
Use an 8mm/10mm socket to remove the bolts along the top of the grille. Keep hardware organized.

Step 3 — Release Grille Clips
Carefully pull the grille forward to release clips. Work evenly from one side to the other to avoid breaking tabs.

Step 4 — Remove Grille
Lift the grille away from the truck and set it aside on a soft surface to prevent scratches.

Step 5 — Remove Headlight Mounting Bolts
Remove the headlight bolts (commonly 10mm) from the top and side mounting points.

Step 6 — Pull Headlight Forward
Gently pull the headlight forward. If it feels stuck, double-check for hidden bolts or clips before forcing it.

Step 7 — Disconnect Factory Connectors
Press the connector tab and pull straight out. Do not pull on the wires.

Step 8 — Connect New Headlight
Plug the new headlight connectors in until they click. Ensure all connectors are fully seated.

Step 9 — Test Functions
Reconnect the battery and test low beam, high beam, DRL/parking light, and turn signals. Fix any loose connectors before reinstalling trim.
Step 10 — Reinstall Headlight & Bolts
Seat the headlight into position, align tabs, then reinstall and snug all bolts evenly.

Step 11 — Reinstall Grille & Covers
Reinstall the grille (engage clips first, then bolts), then reinstall the upper cover and push-clips.

Common Issues & Solutions
1. Tail light does not turn on after installation
Please first check whether the wiring harness connectors are properly connected and fully seated. Inspect the pins inside the connector to ensure none are bent or misaligned.
If any pins are bent, you may carefully straighten them using a paper clip or other small precision tool, then reconnect the plug securely.
2. Swap test
If the tail light still does not illuminate, try swapping the left and right tail lights to determine whether the issue is related to the light unit itself or the vehicle wiring.
3. Condensation inside the tail light
Condensation may occur due to temperature differences, which is a normal physical phenomenon. After the tail light has been operating for a period of time and the internal temperature stabilizes, the moisture will naturally dissipate.
This does not affect brightness, performance, or the lifespan of the tail light.
