Honda Civic 11th Gen Hatchback
INSTALLATION GUIDE
Required Tools :
- Ratchet & 8mm Socket (Extension recommended)
- Plastic Trim Removal Tool
- Fish Tape or Stiff Wire (Crucial for routing wires through rubber grommet)
- Zip Ties
- Masking Tape (Optional, to protect paint)

Part 1: Preparation & Removal
Step 1: Remove Trunk Lid Trim
Open the hatch. Use a plastic trim tool to pop off the upper center trim piece. Then, remove the lower trim panel around the grab handle to expose the inner tail light mounting points.

Step 2: Remove Factory Center Light
Remove the 8mm nuts securing the factory center light bar. Disconnect the electrical plug and carefully pull the light assembly away from the vehicle.

Step 3: Remove Outer Tail Lights
On the side fenders, remove the two 8mm bolts securing the outer tail lights. Firmly pull the light assembly straight back to release the clips. Do not pull sideways.

Part 2: Wiring & Installation
Step 4: Route the Wire Through Grommet
You must run the connection wire from the outer fender to the trunk lid. Use a stiff guide wire (or a coat hanger) to feed the harness through the factory rubber grommet. This ensures a watertight seal. Do NOT cut the grommet.
Tip: Using a small amount of soapy water or silicone spray on the wire can help it slide through the rubber grommet more easily

Step 5: Install New Outer Lights
Connect the factory plug to the new outer tail light. Align the guide pins and push the light into place. Reinstall the two 8mm bolts.

Step 6: Connect & Install Center Light
Connect the wires you routed from the side lights to the new center light bar connectors. Secure the center light assembly to the trunk lid using the factory nuts.

Common Issues & Solutions
1. Tail light does not turn on after installation
Please first check whether the wiring harness connectors are properly connected and fully seated. Inspect the pins inside the connector to ensure none are bent or misaligned.
If any pins are bent, you may carefully straighten them using a paper clip or other small precision tool, then reconnect the plug securely.
2. Swap test
If the tail light still does not illuminate, try swapping the left and right tail lights to determine whether the issue is related to the light unit itself or the vehicle wiring.
3. Condensation inside the tail light
Condensation may occur due to temperature differences, which is a normal physical phenomenon. After the tail light has been operating for a period of time and the internal temperature stabilizes, the moisture will naturally dissipate.
This does not affect brightness, performance, or the lifespan of the tail light.
