Fits: 2001-2006 Mitsubishi Montero (sold in other markets as the Pajero V73).

- Trim removal tool
- Waterproof tape
- Clean microfiber towel
What Comes in the Box
Along with the left and right tail lights, the kit includes two accessories you may or may not need:
- Two brake resistors. Only needed if a brake warning light appears after installation.
- Two adapter harnesses. Only needed if the tail light wiring harness on your vehicle is incomplete — the adapter draws power from the rear bumper light instead. Wire colours match their function, and the detail is printed on the packaging.
Step 1: Remove the Factory Tail Light
Open the rear door for access, unscrew the two fixing screws, then pull the tail light straight outward to release it from the body.
Step 2: Connect the Wiring
Position ③ in the diagram is the connector for the factory vehicle harness — plug it in there.
Positions ① and ② are for the brake resistor and the adapter harness. If your vehicle does not need them, wrap those leads back with waterproof tape so they stay sealed.
Step 3: Fit the Brake Resistor or Adapter Harness If Needed
- Brake warning light on the dash? Connect the brake resistor supplied in the accessory bag.
- Tail light harness incomplete? Use the adapter harness to draw power from the rear bumper light.
Secure whichever part you use away from heat, moving parts, water paths and sharp edges.
Step 4: Test Before Reassembly
With the light still loose, switch on the running lights and confirm every function on both sides: running light, brake light, turn signal, reverse light, and the startup animation on ignition. Testing now is far easier than after the light is bolted back in.
Step 5: Install the New Tail Light
Align the two side fixing screws with their holes and push the light into place, then tighten evenly. The light should sit flush without being forced.
Repeat on the opposite side.
Common Issues and Solutions
Tail light does not turn on after installation. Check that the harness connectors are fully seated. Inspect the pins inside each connector; if any are bent, carefully straighten them with a small precision tool and reconnect securely.
Swap test. If a tail light still does not work, swap the left and right units to find out whether the issue is the light itself or the vehicle wiring.
Brake warning light stays on. Fit the brake resistors from the accessory bag on both sides.
Condensation inside the tail light. Temperature differences can cause light condensation, which is normal. Once the light has been on for a while and the internal temperature stabilizes, the moisture clears on its own. It does not affect brightness, performance, or lifespan.
