Fits: 2022-2026 Honda Civic 11th generation hatchback and 2023-2026 Civic Type R. The sedan uses different tail lights.
This set replaces the center light on the hatch and the outer lamps on the body.
Required Tools
- Ratchet and 8mm socket (an extension helps)
- Plastic trim removal tool
- Fish tape or stiff wire, for routing the harness through the rubber grommet
- Zip ties
- Masking tape (optional, to protect the paint)

Part 1: Preparation and Removal
Step 1: Remove the Hatch Trim
Open the hatch. Use a trim tool to pop off the upper center trim piece, then remove the lower trim panel around the grab handle to expose the center light mounting points.

Step 2: Remove the Factory Center Light
Remove the 8mm nuts securing the factory center light bar. Disconnect the plug and carefully pull the light away from the hatch.

Step 3: Remove the Outer Tail Lights
Remove the two 8mm bolts securing each outer tail light. Pull the light firmly straight back to release the clips. Do not pull it sideways.

Part 2: Wiring and Installation
Step 4: Route the Harness Through the Grommet
Run the included connection harness from the body to the hatch. Use a stiff guide wire to feed it through the factory rubber grommet so the seal stays watertight. Do not cut the grommet.
Tip: a little soapy water or silicone spray on the harness helps it slide through the grommet.

Step 5: Install the New Outer Lights
Connect the factory plug to the new outer tail light, line up the guide pins, push the light into place and reinstall the two 8mm bolts.

Step 6: Connect and Install the Center Light
Connect the harness you routed to the new center light, then secure the center light to the hatch with the factory nuts.

Step 7: Test and Reassemble
Test the brake, turn signal and reverse lights on both sides. Tidy the harness with zip ties, then reinstall the hatch trim.
Common Issues and Solutions
Tail light does not turn on after installation. Check that the harness connectors are fully seated. Inspect the pins inside each connector; if any are bent, carefully straighten them with a small precision tool and reconnect securely.
Swap test. If a tail light still does not work, swap the left and right units to find out whether the issue is the light itself or the vehicle wiring.
Condensation inside the tail light. Temperature differences can cause light condensation, which is normal. Once the light has been on for a while and the internal temperature stabilizes, the moisture clears on its own. It does not affect brightness, performance, or lifespan.
