Fits: 2007-2013 GMC Sierra 1500 in SL, SLE, XE and SLT trim, and 2007-2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD in WT, SLE and SLT trim. All GMT900.
Does not fit the 2014 and newer Sierra 1500, or the 2015 and newer Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD. Those are a different body generation with a different lamp.
About the turn signal: brake and turn share the same red zone on these lamps, and the turn signal flashes red. That is how the set is designed and matches the factory lamp — there is no separate amber indicator.

No adapter harness is needed. The lamps plug straight into the factory connectors.
Before You Start
- Park on level ground, switch the truck off, and disconnect the negative battery terminal while handling wiring.
- Use clean towels or masking tape near painted edges around the tailgate and bed sides.
- Set the lamps face-down on a soft towel so the lens does not get scratched.
- Do not put dielectric or weather-sealing grease on connectors or sockets.
- If a lamp does not move, stop and look for another fastener rather than forcing it.
Required Tools
- Metric socket and ratchet set
- Trim removal tool
- Phillips and flat screwdrivers
- Clean microfiber towels and masking tape
- A helper for brake, turn signal and reverse testing
Part 1: Remove the Factory Tail Lights
Step 1: Open Up the Access Area
Lower the tailgate and find the lamp retainers at the inner edge of the tail light.
Step 2: Support the Lamp and Remove the Fasteners
Hold the lamp with one hand while you take its fasteners out, so it cannot drop against the bed side.
Step 3: Pull the Lamp Straight Out
Pull in line with the lamp to release the locating pins. Do not lever against a painted panel.
Step 4: Disconnect the Wiring
Press the lock tab on the connector and pull on the connector body, never on the wires.
Part 2: Install the New Tail Lights
Step 5: Check the Plug Layout
Before fitting, compare the rear plug and the mounting points on the new lamp with the lamp you just removed. They should match one for one.
Step 6: Connect the Lamp
Plug the new lamp into the factory connector, seat it fully, and confirm the lock tab clicks home.
Step 7: Seat the Lamp
Line up the locating pins and check the body gaps before tightening anything. Do not overtighten the plastic mounting points.
Step 8: Test Before Closing Up
- Running lights on both sides.
- Brake lights, with a helper on the pedal.
- Left and right turn signals and hazards. Remember the signal flashes red in the brake zone.
- Reverse lights, with the truck safely in reverse and the parking brake on.
- Startup animation, once the road-light functions all pass.
- Check for dashboard warnings, hyperflash or flicker.
Common Issues and Solutions
No amber turn signal. Expected. This set flashes the turn signal red in the brake zone, the same way the factory lamp does.
Tail light does not turn on after installation. Check that the connector is fully seated, and check the related fuse and the battery connection. Inspect the pins inside the connector; if any are bent, carefully straighten them with a small precision tool and reconnect securely.
Swap test. If a tail light still does not work, swap the left and right units to find out whether the issue is the light itself or the truck's wiring.
Condensation inside the tail light. Temperature differences can cause light condensation, which is normal. Once the light has been on for a while and the internal temperature stabilizes, the moisture clears on its own. It does not affect brightness, performance, or lifespan.
