2018-2026 Jeep Wrangler JL & JLU LED Quad Projector Headlights Installation Guide

2018-2026 Jeep Wrangler JL & JLU LED Quad Projector Headlights Installation Guide

Fits: 2018-2026 Jeep Wrangler JL (two-door) and Wrangler Unlimited JLU (four-door), and 2020-2026 Jeep Gladiator JT. The JT carries the same round headlight as the JL — same opening, same factory plug — so every step below applies to both.

Does not fit the 2018 Wrangler JK. Both were built in 2018 and they use different headlights. Quick check: on the JL the headlight rings overlap the two outer grille slots. If the grille slots run clear past the lamps, you have a JK and this kit will not fit. Gladiator owners can skip this check — there is no JK Gladiator.

What Comes in the Box

Two headlight assemblies, a short adapter lead, and the coiled main harness. The adapter is for trucks that left the factory with halogen headlights — factory-LED trucks plug straight in and do not need it.

Before You Start

  • Confirm which lighting your truck has. Halogen trucks use the included adapter harness; factory-LED trucks connect directly. This is the same on the JL and the JT.
  • Park on level ground, switch off, and disconnect the negative battery terminal while handling wiring.
  • Work one side at a time so the other lamp stays as a reference.
  • Do not put dielectric or weather-sealing grease on connectors or sockets.

Required Tools

  • Torx and metric socket set
  • Trim removal tool
  • Clean microfiber towels and masking tape
  • Zip ties for securing the adapter harness
  • A wall or flat vertical surface for checking beam aim

Part 1: Remove the Factory Headlights

Step 1: Remove the Grille

The grille is held by push clips across the top and locating tabs at the sides. Release them evenly and lift the grille away to expose the headlight retaining bolts.

Step 2: Unbolt the Headlight

Support the lamp while you remove its fasteners, and keep the hardware separated by side.

Step 3: Disconnect the Wiring

Press the connector lock tab and pull on the connector body, never on the wires.

Step 4: Compare Before Fitting

Hold the new lamp against the original and confirm the mounting tabs and plug match. This is what the back of the new lamp looks like — check the socket positions, the mounting tabs and where the harness exits against the lamp you just took off.

Part 2: Install the New Headlights

Step 5: Connect the Wiring

On a halogen truck, fit the included adapter harness between the vehicle plug and the lamp. On a factory-LED truck, connect directly. Either way, push each connector until the lock tab clicks and check nothing is left half-seated.

Step 6: Test Before Closing Up

With the lamp still loose, confirm low beam, high beam, the white daytime running light, the sequential amber turn signal and the startup animation.

Step 7: Seat and Bolt the Lamp

Align it to the locating tabs, check the gap against the fender and the grille opening, then tighten. Do not overtighten plastic mounts.

Step 8: Secure and Reassemble

Secure the harness away from heat, moving parts, water paths and sharp edges, refit the grille, then repeat on the other side and reconnect the negative battery terminal.

Step 9: Check the Beam Aim

Park square to a flat vertical surface and confirm the cutoff line sits level and at the same height on both sides.

Common Issues and Solutions

One headlight does not light. Recheck the adapter harness at both ends, the related fuse and the battery connection.

Hyperflash or a dash warning. Confirm both sides are wired the same way, and that the adapter is used only where it is required.

The lamp will not sit flush. Check for a trapped harness behind the housing rather than forcing the bolts.

Condensation inside the headlight. Temperature differences can cause light condensation, which is normal. Once the light has been on for a while and the internal temperature stabilizes, the moisture clears on its own. It does not affect brightness, performance, or lifespan.
